Why doesn’t India have start-ups in defence sector?
“India doesn’t have any start-ups in the defence sector”- This was a true notion in the past, but not any more now. Today with government allowing private players into the defence industry, there are several innovative start-ups in the country that are operating in and catering to the needs of the defence sector.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is working with several start-ups in the country by sharing its workload in the manufacture of various products. The government has launched Defence India Start Up Challenge with a vision to support start-ups, MSMEs and other innovators to create prototypes, and commercial products in the area of national defence and security. Some of the start-ups shortlisted by the government under CRPF Start Up India Challenge to solve security challenges in the industry include Asteria Aerospace, Sagar Defence Engineering, Dcygnus Automates, Bharat Wire Mesh, Red Carbon Techno Hub, etc.
